1. Overview

This Cookie and Tracking Notice explains how Stack Builders uses cookies and similar technologies in ZipScore, a scoring and event administration platform used for U.S. Ski & Snowboard and related ski and snowboard events.

Cookies and similar technologies help the platform work, keep accounts secure, remember preferences, diagnose problems, improve reliability, and understand basic usage patterns. This notice should be read together with the Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on a browser or device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, software development kits, server logs, device identifiers, and other tools that store or read information from a device or browser.

Some technologies are necessary for the platform to function. Others help us understand how the platform is used or improve the service.

3. Categories of technologies we use

Strictly necessary technologies

These are required for the platform to work. They may be used to:

  • Sign users in and keep them signed in
  • Maintain secure sessions
  • Prevent unauthorized access
  • Remember security settings
  • Route traffic and balance server loads
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, malware, and attacks
  • Support accessibility or basic platform functionality

Strictly necessary technologies cannot be disabled through the platform because the service may not function without them.

Preference technologies

These may be used to remember choices, such as:

  • Display preferences
  • Event or discipline filters
  • Language or region preferences, if supported
  • User interface settings

Diagnostic and performance technologies

These may be used to understand and improve platform reliability, including:

  • Error reports
  • Page load performance
  • Service availability
  • Browser and device compatibility
  • Feature performance
  • Aggregated usage patterns

Analytics technologies

If enabled, analytics technologies may help Stack Builders and its customers understand how the platform is used, such as which pages are visited, which features are used, and whether users encounter errors.

Analytics for the scoring system should be configured to avoid unnecessary personal information and should not be used to profile athletes, evaluate athletic performance, or target advertising.

Advertising technologies

The scoring system is not intended to use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or targeted advertising technologies. If that changes, this notice should be updated before those technologies are used, and any required consent or opt-out mechanism should be implemented.

4. Examples of information collected

Cookies and similar technologies may collect:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Session identifiers
  • Authentication status
  • Timestamp and page views
  • Error and diagnostic information
  • User preferences
  • Referring pages, if available

They should not be used to collect full birthdates, home addresses, medical information, payment card numbers, or private athlete identifiers unless technically necessary and specifically approved.

5. Third-party service providers

Stack Builders may use third-party service providers for hosting, security, monitoring, diagnostics, email delivery, support, analytics, and similar services. These providers may set or read cookies and similar technologies only as needed to provide services to Stack Builders or the relevant customer.

Examples of provider categories may include:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers
  • Security and authentication providers
  • Error monitoring and performance monitoring providers
  • Analytics providers
  • Customer support or communications providers

6. Your choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or limit cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the platform from working correctly.

If the platform uses optional analytics or preference cookies, Stack Builders should provide a cookie preferences tool or similar mechanism where required. Users should be able to change optional cookie settings without affecting strictly necessary platform functions.

If a browser or device sends a legally recognized opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, Stack Builders should honor that signal where required by applicable law and where the signal applies to the platform's processing.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is not a universally accepted technical standard for responding to Do Not Track signals. The platform may not respond to Do Not Track signals unless required by applicable law. Where required, the platform should honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals.

8. Children and minors

Because the platform may process information about minor athletes, Stack Builders does not use cookies or similar technologies to target advertising to minors through the platform. Customers and authorized users should avoid configuring the platform or third-party integrations in a way that tracks minors for advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.

9. Changes to this notice

We may update this Cookie and Tracking Notice from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the platform, by email, or through customer communications where appropriate.
